- What is Nutri-Mulch?
- Nutri-Mulch is a true compost which is produced from a mixture of turkey
manure and wood shavings. These are derived from the production of five
million Norbest.turkeys in the Sanpete valley of Utah by the Moroni Feed
Company.
- How is Nutri-Mulch created?
- The turkey chicks are raised, initially, in large buildings which have
an 8 inch bed of wood shavings on the floor. These shavings serve to absorb
moisture and waste until the birds are large enough to go outside in large
pens. Nutri-Mulch (a division of the Moroni Feed Co.) harvests this wood
shavings/manure combination and takes it to a central batch-plant location
where the composting process is accomplished. The manure is placed in long
windrows to which is added irrigation water to bring the moisture level
up to optimum level. These piles then begin to heat up. They are turned
every two days by a special composting machine. This carefully controlled
and monitored process keeps the temperature in the piles between 130 and
150 degrees Fahrenheit and supplies oxygen tor the aerobic bacteria which
accomplish the composting process. The entire process requires six to eight
weeks. The windrows are then brought in and screened to 5/8 inch minus
and the Nutri-Mulch is then ready to be shipped to our customers.
- What is the chemical composition of Nutri-Mulch?
- Nutri-Mulch is a superior soil amendment at neutral pH which contains its
soil-enriching nutrients in the form of large organic molecules which remain
in the soil where they are placed and are bio-available to the plant roots
when needed. Guaranteed to have an N:P:K ratio of 1:1:1, Nutri-Mulch decreases
the need to add other commercial fertilizers. Nutri-Mulch also contains
many other micro-nutrients which greatly enhance plant growth and health. (Chemical
